Emma Carol (Easterling) Cecil, age 66, of Stanville, loster her year-long battle with colon cancer on Feb. 8, 2013. Even though she lost the battle, she won the war because she has gone to her heavenly home.

Emma was the daughter of the late Charles F. (Chuck) and Fayetta Bowling Easterling. She was born May 14, 1946.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie R. Cecil, in 1995 and her brother, Charles F. Easterling.

She is survived by three sons, Jimmie R. (Kim) Cecil, of Racoon, Joe R. (Kim) Cecil, of Louisa, and Jody R. (Tabitha) Cecil, of Hellier; six grandchildren, Jordan, Brandon, Megan, Carrie Jo, Kate and Gracie Cecil; and a sister and brother-in-law, John and Daryl Lynn Brickey, of Baltimore, Ohio.

Emma was a member of Boldman Freewill Baptist Church. Membership does not adequately describe the relationship Emma had with her church. Boldman Freewill Baptist was her extended family, where blessings flowed both ways.

Emma graduate from Hellier High School, Pikeville College and Morehead State University. She taught business class at Millard High School until her retirement.

Emma was a loving mother, sister and friend. Most people would say Emma was a shining star, no matter where she was. Emma’s laughter would like up any room. All who knew her will sadly miss her. She leaves behind many, many family and friends, with whom she enjoyed sharing time. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, her Rook club and Scrabble. She was a big Andy Griffith buff and a Kentucky Wildcats fan, and she always loved her high school, Hellier High.

Funeral services were conducted by Belmont Johnson, at Boldman Freewill Baptist Church, on Tuesday, Feb. 12. She was laid to rest in the Ferguson Cemetery, at Harold.

Pallbearers were Jordan Cecil, Brandon Cecil, Ray Gene Bartley, Bradley Slone, Harold Wallace, Richard Maynard, Corbin Easterling, Larry Joe Osborne and Paul Dean Justice.

Honorary pallbearers were Jimper Sturgill, Scotty Derry, Charles Hobbes and all her brothers in Boldman Freewill Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Boldman Freewill Baptist Church Sunday School.
