BETSY LAYNE - On a night when three former student-athletes were inducted into the Betsy Layne High School Hall of Fame, the host Bobcats were determined to make a good showing. Betsy Layne did just that, pulling away to beat visiting Prestonsburg 75-46.

With the win, Betsy Layne pulled even with Prestonsburg in the 58th District/Floyd County Conference standings. Each team compiled a 7-1 district/conference record during the regular-season.

Sophomore guard/forward Peyton Case and junior guard Dylan Meade combined to outscore Prestonsburg. Case led Betsy Layne with a game-high 27 points. Meade followed, adding 20 points for the Bobcats.

Betsy Layne battled back from a slow start. Prestonsburg edged the Bobcats 12-11 in the opening quarter. Host Betsy Layne, however, outscored Prestonsburg in each of the last three quarters.

After carrying a 33-27 lead into halftime, Betsy Layne used a 24-5 run in the third quarter to distance itself from the Blackcats.

Sophomore guard Jarredd Jarrell led Prestonsburg with a team-high 18 points. Freshman forward Dalton Frasure joined Jarrell in double figures, adding 10 points for the Blackcats.

Senior guard Bryson Williams scored seven points and sophomore guard Jarrin Hall added six for the Prestonsburg boys’ basketball team.
