Willis Shelley Johnson, 65, of Melvin, husband of Deborah Bernie Burke Johnson, died Feb. 21, 2013, at Pikeville Medical Center.

Born Jan. 14, 1948, in Muskegon, Mich., to the late Shelley and Louise Peterson Johnson, he was a vocational school instructor.

He is survived by two sons, Kevin Dwayne (Julia) Johnson, of Hindman, and Darren Johnson, of Melvin; a daughter, Deborah Louise Johnson, of Melvin; a brother, Percy Dean Johnson, of Weeksbury; two sisters, Jewell Jean Greene, of Lincoln Park, Mich., and Edith Birdie Paja, of Monroe, Ga.; two half-sisters, Laura Belle Kendricks, of Muskegon, Mich., and Mary Louise Woodering, of Muskegon, Mich.; two grandchildren, Braxton Chase Johnson and Kyle LaKaya Johnson; and a surviving aunt, Carrie Isaac, of Wheelwright.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Gene Johnson.

Funeral services for Willis Shelley Johnson were held Monday, Feb. 25, at the Melvin Church of Christ, at Melvin, with Church of Christ ministers officiating.

Nelson Frazier Funeral Home, of Martin, was in charge of arrangements.
