THELMA — Highlands Health System conducted a health fair for Carl D. Perkins employees and their families at the Perkins Vocational Training Center.

The Perkins Center is a division of the Kentucky Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR) and serves those with disabilities, such as learning deficiencies, autism, Asperger’s syndrome, traumatic brain injury, deaf, and physical disabilities, through numerous programs operated at the facility, designed to help consumers achieve their vocational goals.

Approximately 40 attendees participated in the health fair, receiving lab work for fasting blood sugars, cholesterol, triglycerides, and A1C (for individuals with diabetes) and flu shots, all no cost. Along with lab work, participants received educational information on health improvement and new services at Highlands.
