Center to host kids’ math, science event

PRESTONSBURG — East Kentucky Science center will host an early childhood “Spring into Science and Math” event this month at Big Sandy Community and Technical College.

The Floyd County Community Early Childhood Council will be hosting a free family science and math event at the East Kentucky Science Center on the campus of Big Sandy Community and Technical College on Saturday, March 23, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Designed with families of young children ages 2 to 5 in mind, who can enjoy the several free activities, including:

• 5 early learning stations featuring Spring themes (such as plants, frogs, weather, etc.) and hands-on activities.

• The Enchanted Reef Planetarium show,

• an Animals Live Presentation featuring small animals who call the Science Center home.

• a hurricane simulator.

• a dig station.

• learning stations for parents/caregivers to gain information about ways to help young children be “school ready” as they grow.

• door prizes, including a VTech Game for one lucky family, and information bags featuring some free children’s books and activities.

• and lots more fun for participants.
