LEXINGTON – The five finalists for Kentucky’s 2013 Mr.and Miss Basketballs have been announced. The Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation sponsors the awards, given out annually to the state’s top high school player.
The finalists for Miss Basketball are Larryn Brooks (Madison Central), China Dow (Christian Academy of Louisville), Makayla Epps (Marion County), Kyvin Goodin-Rogers (Marion County) and Becca Greenwell (Owensboro Catholic).
Voting by statewide media members for the awards will end on March 20. The winners will be announced March 29 in Louisville.
Potter invited to try out for Kentucky Junior All-Stars: Pikeville junior Rachel Potter has been invited to try out for the Kentucky Junior All-Stars.
During her junior season, Potter averaged 18.4 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. Potter led Pikeville in both shooting and rebounding.
Forty-two boys and 40 girls junior basketball standouts in Kentucky have been selected to tryout for the Kentucky/Indiana Junior All-Stars series. The WLKY Kentucky/Indiana All-Star Classic added a two-game series for the Bluegrass State’s top juniors in 2012.
The tryout selections were determined by a voting process made available to all high school coaches in Kentucky. Tryouts for the Kentucky Junior All-Stars will be held in conjunction with the senior tryouts March 23 and 24 at Georgetown College. The Kentucky portion of the junior series will be held Friday, June 7 at a location in Louisville to be announced.
