ROBINSON CREEK - The Shelby Valley girls’ basketball program swept the 2013 honors awarded by the Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches (KABC). Shelby Valley standout Breanna Fraley, a University of Pikeville signee, claimed the 15th Region Player of the Year award. Rodney Rowe, head coach of the Shelby Valley girls’ basketball team, earned the 15th Region Coach of the Year award.

Shelby Valley defeated 13th Region champion Corbin in the opening round of this year’s Girls’ Sweet Sixteen. The Shelby Valley girls’ basketball team then fell to Anderson County in the quarterfinals.

A list of the KABC award-winners from each of the state’s 16 regions follows.

1st Region Player of the Year: Chelsey Shumpert (Paducah Tilghman); 1st Region Coach of the Year: Roderick Thomas (Paducah Tilghman).

2nd Region Player of the Year: Ellie Fruit (Henderson County); 2nd Region Coach of the Year: Parker McCalister (Webster County).

3rd Region Player of the Year: Rebecca Greenwell (Owensboro Catholic); 3rd Region Coach of the Year: Mike Harper (Muhlenberg County).

4th Region Player of the Year: Madison Clements (Monroe County); 4th Region Coach of the Year: Brad Bonds (Allen County-Scottsville).

5th Region Player of the Year: Makayla Epps (Marion County); 5th Region Coach of the Year: Trent Milby (Marion County).

6th Region Player of the Year: Whitney Hartlage (Mercy); 6th Region Coach of the Year: Larry Just (Butler).

7th Region Player of the Year: Tearra Banks (Ballard); 7th Region Coach of the Year: John Leslie (Eastern).

8th Region Player of the Year: Courtney Sandlin (Walton-Verona); 8th Region Coach of the Year: Holly Roberts (Gallatin County).

9th Region Player of the Year: Leah Schaefer (Highlands); 9th Region Coach of the Year: Aaron Stamm (Conner), Jamie Richey (Highlands).

10th Region Player of the Year: Macie Spence (Montgomery County); 10th Region Coach of the Year: Piper Lindsey (Mason County).

11th Region Player of the Year: Larryn Brooks (Madison Central); 11th Region Coach of the Year: Robert Cooksey (Madison Central).

12th Region Player of the Year: Jessica Hardin (Wayne County); 12th Region Coach of the Year: Christi Noble (Rockcastle County).

13th Region Player of the Year: Cheyenne Madden (Clay County); 13th Region Coach of the Year: Richard Jones (Lynn Camp).

14th Region Player of the Year: Kelah Eldridge (Letcher County Central); 14th Region Coach of the Year: Mark Collett (Leslie County).

15th Region Player of the Year: Brianna Fraley (Shelby Valley); 15th Region Coach of the Year: Rodney Rowe (Shelby Valley).
