The road to fame, it is said, is a long and arduous one. And according to organizers of a local talent competition, it begins next month.

The second installment of the County Music Highway “Road to Fame” competition starts next month, with the audition process getting underway.

Auditions will take place in four locations across the Big Sandy Valley, starting April 6. During auditions, judges will choose 80 contestants to advance to one of four qualification rounds, to be held in May.

The winner, as well as the top 10 finalists‐ will act as ambassadors representing the Country Music Highway at various events throughout the year and will help promote the 2013 “Road to Fame” competition.

The competition is open to contestants aged 13 to 35.

Audition sites include:

• Hampton Inn, 831 Hambley Blvd., Pikeville, 1 p.m., Saturday, April 6

• Jenny Wiley State Park, 75 Theatre Court, Prestonsburg, 1 p.m., Sunday, April 7

• Fannin Motors, 7405 US 60, Ashland, 1 p.m., Saturday, April 27
