Laughs, lighthearted adventure present in new releases

Lots of laughs and lighthearted adventure led the pack with this week as a top comedy and a well executed series hit the shelves.

PITCH PERFECT 2 – The Bella are back in this sequel to the popular musical comedy about the cut throat antics around an A Capella competition. This time the Bella get to bask in the glory of a performance in front of the president until a costume mishap slams their efforts. It is all they can do to break in a new member and go for the gold against a splashy Eastern European team. Anna Kendrick returns as does Rebel Wilson(who provides most of the laughs).

CHAIN OF COMMAND – Michael Jai White(Black Dynamite) stars in this action oriented revenge saga. He is a returning government operative who witness his brother’s murder. he goes after the killers only o find their trail takes him back into the government circle he has been serving . Things get amped up a notch when he must contend with another operative played by Stone Cold Steve Austin.

FLASH – SEASON 1 – The speedy superhero is back in a new series that benefits form amazing effects and a spirited cast(which includes the first actor to play the character, John Wesley Shipp). Grant Gustin is perfectly cast as the scarlet speedster and the show also benefits from ace DC Comics writer Geoffrey Johns(who also produces).

BUSTING – Old school fans will enjoy this 70’s cop flick that cast Elliot Gould and Robert Black as unorthodox detectives who go after a mob boss who has many friends in their own department. Good repartee is paired with savvy streetwise performances by Sid Haig, Allen Garfield, and Michael Lerner. Directing debut of Peter Hymans, who would go on to merge action with science fiction in films like “Outland” and ” Capricorn One.”
