One blockbuster and several off kilter stories made for an entertaining collection of choices for renters this week.
SAN ANDREA – Big budget disaster flick that benefits from the strong central performance of Dwayne ‘the Rock ” Jonson. Here he is cast a s a dad who races into action when the titular fault finally crumbles under a massive earthquake. Spectacular special effects are well merged with the gripping narrative of a father trying to save his wife and child.
PRO WRESTLERS VS ZOMBIES – Fans of the great Rowdy Roddy Piper will enjoy this release that finds the late Piper cast as a wrestler who takes part in a private show. Unfortunately the gig goes disastrously wrong when the athletes find themselves trapped in an abandoned prison and fighting off the undead. The cast also includes such wrestling greats as Hacksaw Jim Duggan and Kurt Angle.
TOMORROWLAND- A teen with endless curiosity tracks down a scientific genius(and former by wonder) to help her explore a mysterious city that is hidden in time in this big budget sci-fi flick. This didn’t do well in theaters but is a lot of fun and is entertainment you can watch with the whole family. It features a positive view of our future which is unique and refreshing. George Clooney stars.
WAYWARD PINES – Interesting series that finds a Secret Service agent drawn to a remote town in Idaho as he searches for two missing F.B.I. Agents. He finds the town to be a strange place where something big is going down but nobody will talk. Eventually a local befriends him but he learns that the people there have all disappeared from other places . Some like their new home and some are desperate to escape but that seems impossible as the whole place is monitored by unseen agents and policed by a relentless lawman. Matt Dillon, Carla Cugino, Terrance Howard, and Toby Jones star.
