PRESTONSBURG – Big Sandy Community and Technical College announced this week, its planned study abroad trips for the summer of 2016.
BSCTC, in conjunction with the Global Learning Organization (GLO) has two planned trips for this summer including stints in Cuba, and Italy.
The Cuba trip, led by Professor Fallon Watson, will travel to Havana to learn about its peoples, and tour a variety of settings including farms, health clinics, and even a circus school. The trip is scheduled for June 6 – 14 and is open to students under 23-years-of-age.

The second trip will be led by Professor Great Heintzelman Slone will take place May 30-June 10, 2016. The trip will visit locales in Italy such as Venice where students will get an opportunity to see the canals, to Pompeii, built near the ruins of the classic city destroyed by volcano.
Students will also have an opportunity to explore Florence, Pisa, Assisi, Sorrento, Rome, and Capri during the twelve day trip. Highlights along the way will include Vatican City, the Sistine Chapel, The Leaning Tower of Pisa, and world renowned art museum, The Academia Gallery, where the Statue of David resides.

General Education courses will be offered in conjunction with the trips during the spring term 2016, offering students the opportunity to earn credit and experience first hand, new cultures.
Estimated cost for the either of the trips is $4000.00.
