Christmas comes to BSCTC campuses

PRESTONSBURG – Children and their families will have an opportunity to get into the Christmas spirit when those twinkling toy makers Santa and Mrs. Claus make their annual trips to the Big Sandy Community College Campuses.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will make their way to the Prestonsburg Campus on December 9, at 5:00 p.m. The event will take place at the Gazebo on campus, weather permitting.

The Prestonsburg event was created as an outreach to the community to help foster the Christmas spirit.

“We wanted to help folks in the area get in the spirit of Christmas by having an event with Santa, giving the community a feel good event,” said Jennifer Little, public relations official with Big Sandy Community and Technical College. “It has expanded to the other campuses.”

There will also be events on Wednesday December 2, at the Mayo Campus at 6:00 p.m., and again on the Pikeville Campus on December 7 at 5:00 p.m.

The Mayo Campus event had intended to be held outside, but due to the weather, will now be held inside the Mayo Auditorium. “They will be doing a Christmas tree lighting in the Mayo Auditorium, and there will be Christmas caroling and visits with Santa. Refreshments will also be provided,” said Little.

Pikeville City Park will host the event on December 7 at 5:00 p.m. The Big Sandy Singers will participate in the productions at each event.

The events are orchestrated by the Big Sandy Staff Council and Student Activities groups.

All events are free to the public.
