Applications for 2016 Rogers programs being accepted

SOMERSET – If you are a high school sophomore student seeking to develop your leadership and entrepreneurial skills or an eighth-grade middle school student interested in math, science, and technology, The Center for Rural Development wants to hear from you.

Applications for the 2016 Rogers Scholars and Rogers Explorers summer youth leadership programs have been posted and are now available online at The Center’s youth programs website.

Rogers Scholars, an intensive one-week summer program, provides valuable leadership skills and exclusive college scholarship opportunities for upcoming high school juniors in Southern and Eastern Kentucky to fulfill their potential as the region’s next generation of leaders and entrepreneurs.

Rogers Explorers is open to eighth-grade middle school students interested in building their math, science, and technology skills. The program is presented in partnership with the University of the Cumberlands, Lindsey Wilson College, Eastern Kentucky University, Asbury University, Morehead State University, and the University of Pikeville.

Applications for both Rogers Scholars and Rogers Explorers are available online at All applicants are required to complete and submit their application through the online registration site. Mailed and emailed applications will not be accepted.

The deadline to apply for Rogers Scholars is midnight (Eastern Time) on Sunday, Jan. 31. Applicants for Rogers Explorers have until midnight (Eastern Time) on Monday, Feb. 15, to apply for that program.

Both programs are provided tuition-free to participants within The Center’s 45-county primary service area.
