MOREHEAD – Morehead State University’s Kentucky Folk Art Center has announced the opening of enrollment for a summer arts program for children entering the fifth, sixth and seventh grades.
KFAC’s Summer Arts Studio will be held at KFAC for three consecutive days, Tuesday through Thursday, July 21-23 from 9:30 until 11:30 a.m.
This year, children will learn about several reoccurring artistic themes seen in Kentucky Folk Art. Students will create their own artwork based on these themes and some creative license. In addition, sessions will include exploration of the museum where students will be able to view the folk art firsthand while learning more about its subject matter.
Pre-registration is required by contacting Susan Hawkins, KFAC’s outreach educator, at 606-783-8719 or email@example.com.
Sign-up registration also is available in person at the front desk of the Kentucky Folk Art Center. Registration will close on Friday, July 17. The cost for the program is $5 per child, per session, and advance payment is due by Friday, July 17. Slots for the program are limited and will be reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis.
