MSU senior art exhibition to open April 27

MOREHEAD – The main gallery of Morehead State University’s Claypool-Young Art Building will present the inaugural B.F.A. Exhibition and “As We Fly Away: 2016 Annual MSU Senior Juried Art and Design Exhibition,” April 27 through May 11.

The annual show is an opportunity for MSU Department of Art and Design students to exhibit as emerging artists in a professional setting. The exhibitions open with a reception featuring live music by Sarah Wood and Thomas Albert and complimentary refreshments on Wednesday, April 27 from 5-7 p.m., where awards including Best in Show, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd will be announced at 6 p.m.

The first cohort of graduating B.F.A. Students includes: Alex Bauer, Independence; Julieann Helton, Salyersville; Tara Madden, London; J. David Miles, London; and Heather Holbrook, Cincinnati, Ohio.

The 28 participating artists are Jessie Ayala, McAllen, Texas; Alex Bauer, Independence; Larissa Beauchamp, West Liberty; Austin Casebolt, Pikeville; Kim Cornett, Stanford; Adrian Shane Dyer, Morehead; Raechael Flora, Tollesboro; Colin Harris, Tollesboro; Julieann Helton, Salyersville; Nathan Holbrook , Olive Hill; Emily Hollon, Mt. Sterling; Jacob Hollon, Mt. Sterling; Kristin Howell, Hindman; Sarah Jackson, Flemingsburg; Gabe Lewis, West Liberty: Ray Massie, Willow Wood, Ohio; Paige McCreary, Harlan; Heather Miller, Ashland; Hanna Mills, Irvine; Betty Morris, Winchester; Miranda Offill, Olive Hill; Adam Ramey, Elkhorn City; Kinsey Ramey, Grundy, Virginia; Angela Sheehan, Maysville; Sara Shouse, Corbin; Sarah Vaughan, Morehead, Marina Vitatoe, Mt. Olivet; and Marisa Williams, Ashland.

The gallery, within Claypool-Young, features contemporary art for the MSU community as well as the University’s service region.

The gallery is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. or by appointment, and is free and open to the public. Parking is available on Main Street and across campus after 5 p.m.
