Nothing but winners this week with plenty to offer the action junkies.
10 CLOVERFIELD LANE – This is more of a suspense film . It centers on a young woman who is taken hostage by two men in a security bunker, of the home made variety. They try to convince her there has been an invasion but she is skeptical about their motives. Are they serial killers or sincere rescuers? Great stuff.
LONDON HAS FALLEN – The first film(Olympus Has Fallen) depicted an intense attack against the White House by terrorists. This time the President is in London with several world leader to mourn the death of the Prime Minister when terrorists stage another deadly assault. They manage to take our leader hostage but his best body guard, Banning, is also on the scene. Fun though maybe not as good as the original. Aaron Eckhart returns as the President and Gerard Butler is back a s Banning.
AUSTRALIENS – Here you get science fiction styled action. Andi was ten years old when she had an encounter with a flying saucer. seventeen years later the aliens are back with a space fleet that invades her home country of Australia. They didn’t count on her long memory and thirst for revenge. Tongue in cheek and lots of fun.
45 YEARS – Okay this isn’t really an action move. A couple is set to celebrate their 45th anniversary with a big dinner party but things get icy when the husband’s first love sort of returns. Her perfectly preserved remains are recovered in the Swiss Alps and it brings up a lot of skeletons that come tumbling out of the closet and threaten to destroy the marriage, let alone the party. Superb performances by Charlotte Rampling (Dexter) and Tom Courtenay (The Dresser).
