A trio of solid entertainment choices will arrive with little fanfare during the upcoming week alongside the goofiest killer flick since the ‘Sharknado ” series, which is set to debut the fourth installment on the ‘SyFy Channel.’
EYE IN THE SKY – A child wanders into a danger zone in this tense dram about modern military tactics. Helen Mirren stars as a military commander who is overseeing a drone operation. Surveillance drones help her figure out an attack is imminent so she sends in an attack craft. Unfortunately a nine year old girl appears on the scene and a sensitive pilot(Aaron Paul of Breaking Bad fame) must decide what to do.
KUNG-FU PANDA 3 – Jack Black is back as Po who is reunited with his father. They return to their village for a reunion but an evil warlord is on the rampage with a full army. This leaves Po no choice but to train his clumsy panda friends how to fight off a monumental attack in very little time. The kids will have a blast and adults will enjoy the eclectic cast which includes Jackie Chan, Bryan Cranston, Kate Hudson and Seth Rogen.
WHISKEY TANGO FOXTROT – A broadcast journalist must learn the ropes quickly when she gets sent to cover the war in Afghanistan in this drama which was pitched as a comedy. Tina Fey stars and is quite good here but aside from a few early laughs during her adjustment period this is a straight up story about the conflict . A fine cast includes Billy Bob Thornton, Margot Robbie and Alfred Molina.
SHARK EXORCIST- A demonic nun summons the devil to a small fishing village where he possesses a woman and a Great White in this low budget horror yarn. A gnarly title is about all you get here from Donald Framer. Mr. Framer has made 27 films so far and here’s hoping the law of averages catches up with him so he can deliver a good one.
