Four films that played theaters will fight for your rental dollar during the upcoming week.

THE SHALLOWS – A surfer gets stranded about two hundred yards from the beach when a Great White shark swims between her and safety. This is a well photographed battle of wills that finds Nancy(Blake Lively) reliving her recent past while trying to summon the will to outwit an eating machine that has already noshed on a pair of swimmers and is hungry fir more.

WARCRAFT – You don’t have to play the game to enjoy this film adaptation that depicts a magic heavy war between humans and Orcs. The story finds an army of Orcs invading Azeroth thorough a magic portal erected by an evil wizard. Human inhabitants of this world will have to iron out their differences if they are to stop this Orcan army. Good action ensue though an open ending is a bit of a letdown.

MIKE AND DAVE NEED WEDDING DATES – Two gear headed brothers accidentally injure their girlfriends and must find suitable replacements on-line if they are to be invited to a family wedding in Hawaii. The problem is the girls must be wholesome but the two who answer the ad are actually bad news and just looking for a free ride. Vulgar laughs ensue thanks to energetic performances by Zac Efron and Adam Devine as the leads who are well matched by Anna Kendrick and Aubrey Plaza as their replacement arm candy.

CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE – Kevin Hart and Dwayne ‘The Rock ” Johnson elicit chuckles in this comedy about a reunion of high school acquaintances. Hart stars as Calvin who is contacted by a guy he helped torment in high school named Stone. Turns out Stone is on the run form the C.I.A. and claims he must stop information from getting in the wrongs hands and needs help . Calvin winds up getting entangled in shot outs and car chases all the while wondering is Stone can be the former nerd he helped humiliate. Funny but not as whacky as ‘Mike and Dave.”
