PIKEVILLE – Head coach Allan Holland, Jr., and his University of Pikeville football team will host media day at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the Hoops Athletic Facility on campus next to UPIKE Gym.
Holland, along with his assistant coaches and a select group of student-athletes, will be available to the media for an hour-long session inside the facility which also houses the football offices, weight room and an indoor practice facility.
Following the interview availability, the team will be taking photos at 1 p.m. at the Bob Amos Park track. Media are invited to attend that session as well for any other photo/video needs.
UPIKE, picked to finish second in the MSC East Division according to a poll of the league’s coaches, will open the season at 7 p.m. on Aug. 27 against conference-foe Bluefield (Va.) at the Hambley Athletic Complex.
Other dates in Pikeville will include a Sept. 12 matchup with Point (Ga.), Oct. 3 against Cumberland (Tenn.), Oct. 31 for homecoming versus Union and senior day on Nov. 14 against Georgetown.
UPIKE finished 5-6 overall last season and 4-2 in the Mid-South Conference East Division to place third in the league standings. The Bears’ East Division matchups in 2015 will include the opener against Bluefield, a trip to Cumberlands on Oct. 24, Kentucky Christian in Grayson on Nov. 7 and the season finale against Georgetown.
Games outside of the Mid-South Conference will include a visit to NCAA Div. I FCS Campbell in Buies Creek, N.C., on Sept. 3 and the third game of the season at home against Point.
