Destination Community Church to host free weekend events

Staff Report

PRESTONSBURG – Destination Community Church is a contemporary church that welcomes people from all walks of life. The dress code is casual, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the power of God is present. This weekend, DCC will host a series of free Labor Day weekend events as a way to give back to the community.

The church will also be celebrating its 5-year anniversary.

“A new church in Prestonsburg normally wouldn’t make it past the first year,” Pastor Lee Boyd said.

DCC has proven to be a place for growing believers five years later as well as a staple in the community.

Christian contemporary bands Shiloh and Battlelion will be performing at the downtown Prestonsburg Center Stage beginning at 7:30 p.m. on saturday night. Shiloh has performed alongside well known Christian artists such as 7eventh Time Down and Sanctus Real. They will begin their Rock the Flock tour this fall. Bassist Byron Sparkman, lead vocalist Ashley Sparkman and guitarist Alex “Bubby” White are also part of the worship team at DCC.

The Labor Day block party is scheduled for Sunday in downtown Prestonsburg on Court Street from noon to 3 p.m. The event will feature Cincinnati circus performers, face painting, inflatables, dunking machine, cotton candy, snow cones and food. It will all be provided free to the community.
