KSP investigating fatal accident in Harold

Staff Report

HAROLD – Kentucky State Police, Post 9, is investigating a fatal collision that occurred in Floyd County during the morning hours on Thursday.

The initial investigation indicates that Kelly Caudill, 44 years old of Shelbiana, was operating a 1991 Toyota Corolla while traveling south on US 23 in Harold. Caudill lost control of his vehicle and crossed the median into the oncoming/north bound lane of travel. Caudill’s vehicle entered the path of a Sandy Valley Transportation van just before the two vehicles collided. Floyd County Coroner Greg Nelson Caudill pronounced Caudill deceased at the scene.

Evidence at the scene indicates Caudill was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision and alcohol does not appear to be a factor.

KSP Post 9 Accident Reconstructionist Trooper John Dixon is conducting the ongoing investigation.
