PRESTONSBURG – Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC) will hold its annual Alumni Homecoming at 5 p.m., Friday, Sept. 25 on its Prestonsburg campus.
The free event will include the first-ever Taste of the Big Sandy, which will highlight restaurants from across the region. The Big Sandy Singers and Band will also perform. Organized by the BSCTC Alumni Association, the event aims to reconnect alumni, faculty and staff of the former Prestonsburg Community College, the former Mayo Technical College and BSCTC.
Randy Roberts, director of advancement at BSCTC, said the Alumni Homecoming is one of the highlights of the year for the college.
“We are thrilled to add the Taste of the Big Sandy to this year’s festivities,” said Roberts, who also chairs the Alumni Committee. “Thousands of students have walked our halls, and this is an opportunity for us to share in their success, meet their families and reflect on what this institution has meant to them.”
Since 2008, more than 21,000 first-generation college students have enrolled at BSCTC.
This year, BSCTC will also hold a First Lady’s Brunch with Judy Stephenson, wife of BSCTC President Dr. Devin Stephenson, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, September 25 in the Student Center on the Prestonsburg campus. Tickets are $10 and proceeds will benefit the college’s alumni scholarship.
Dr. Devin Stephenson said he is excited to share in the success of the college’s former students, faculty and staff.
“Through our dedicated faculty and staff, both past and present, we have changed lives,” he said. “I look forward to meeting our alumni and making sure they know that they are still a part of what we are doing here at Big Sandy Community and Technical College.”
