Dr. Devin Stephenson, president of Big Sandy Community and Technical College, shares a laugh with those who participated in a meet and greet on Tuesday, June 2 on the Pikeville campus of BSCTC.
PIKEVILLE – Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC), in conjunction with the Southeast Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, held a meet and greet for BSCTC President Dr. Devin Stephenson on Tuesday, June 2 on its Pikeville campus.
“I am very humbled to have been selected to lead such a great college,” said Dr. Stephenson. “We are excited about the potential, the possibilities and the promise that exist and that will continue to come to this region in the future.”
Dr. Stephenson, who assumed the role of president on June 1, said BSCTC will be responsive to improve workforce, economic and community development in its service area.
“I pledge to you a college that will be proactive, will be a good partner and corporate citizen, a solution seeker and a problem solver,” he said. “We will be quick adapters and I commit to you energy, innovation and collaboration – we want to make things happen.”
Dr. Stephenson encouraged business leaders in attendance to find the “passion for the possible.”
“If not now, then when?” he asked the crowd. “If not us, then who?”
Jacob Colley, president and CEO of the Southeast Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, announced that Dr. Stephenson would be a member of the chamber’s board of directors.
“If we want to bring jobs to our region, partners like Big Sandy Community and Technical College will play a critical role,” said Colley. “Dr. Stephenson will be a valuable asset to our board.”
