Floyd County Schools issues reminder for anti-bullying, safety

Staff Report

PRESTONSBURG – Floyd County Schools Superintendent Dr. Henry Webb reminds everyone that October is Anti-Bullying Awareness Month and October 18-24, 2015 is Kentucky Safe Schools Week.

“We want to always be mindful of bullying and safety, and Anti-Bullying Awareness Month and Safe Schools Week are just reminders to all of our students, staff and families to be diligent in preventing bullying and being safe,” Webb said. “The theme this year is “I Want to be A School Safety SUPERhero” which encourages students to be proactive and responsible decision-makers. These campaigns support safe secure learning environments for KIDS.”

The Kentucky Center for School Safety (KCSS) has an online pledge “SUPERhero” (http://www.kycss.org/superpledge/index.php ) that all children and adults can take in support of a safe environment for kids.

“We want to encourage our kids to talk with responsible adults at school and/or at home if they have safety concerns,” Webb added. “And while our website has recently changed, we still have our Safety Tip line available on our district web page. It is located at the bottom of the web page. This tip line allows students the opportunity to report unsafe school situations because we want Floyd County Schools to be the best possible place for kids.”
