KSP promotes two from Floyd County

LEXINGTON – Two officers with Floyd County ties were recognized by the Kentucky State Police at a promotional

ceremony held in Lexington on Wednesday.

Major Michael Crawford (left), a native of Hi Hat, was promoted to lieutenant colonel and named Director of Operations for the agency. A 32-year veteran of the agency, Crawford served as a dispatcher, trooper and sergeant at KSP Post 9 in

Pikeville from 1984 to 1998.

Sgt. Donald Shearer a resident of Banner, was promoted to lieutenant and transferred from the Drug Enforcement/Special Investigations Branch to Post 9 in

Pikeville. A 14-year veteran of the agency, Shearer served as a trooper at Post 9 from 2003 to 2008.
