Mud Creek Clinic food pantry receives significant donation

Eula Hall accepted a donation to the Mud Creek Clinic food pantry from the Maddiwars last week.


MUD CREEK – Residents in the Mud Creek area were the beneficiaries of a special gift last week when they recieved a significant donation to the local food pantry.

Retired US Army Leutenant Colonel and Retired General Surgeon Dr. Gan Maddiwar and his wife Surekha Maddiwar, both long time Board Members of Big Sandy Healthcare made a generous doantion of $3000 on Wednesday Sept 30.

The donation was made to Eula Hall for the Mud Creek Community Health Corporation to assist with its food pantry. Hall volunteers for several orginizations in the region.

Dr Gan Maddiwar says that since 1977, soon after moving to Eastern Kentucky and until his voluntary retirement in 1998, he had donated surgical consultations and performed minor surgeries every wednesday at Mud Creek Clinic in Grethel. Since voluntary retirement he says both he and his wife donate several months of surgical services to poor and needy people in remote areas world wide including Gayana, Peru, Honduras, Nogeria and India.

These services are provided through sponsorships by Remote Area Medical Corp of Knoxville Tenn. as well as Rotary International and Vivekanand Kendra, and Arun Jyoti.
