Six indicted for contraband

PRESTONSBURG – Visits to Floyd County Jail were extended Wednesday when indictments for promoting contraband in the jail were handed down for six individuals.

According to the indictments released Wednesday by the Floyd County Grand Jury five men and one woman were all indicted on charges of bringing contraband into the detention center.

The indictments read as follows:

Joanna Sowards, of Pikeville – one count of promoting contraband in the first-degree.

Kevin Moore, of Hi Hat – one county of promoting contraband in the first-degree.

Donald G. Combs, of Hazard – two counts of promoting contraband in the first-degree, one count of third-degree criminal mischief, one count of second-degree persistent felony offender.

Jason Lafferty, of Dwale – one count of promoting contraband in the first-degree, one count of third-degree criminal mischief, one count of second-degree persistent felony offender.

Aaron Patton, of Estill – one count of promoting contraband in the first-degree.

Jason Johnson, of Prestonsburg – one count of promoting contraband in the first-degree.

Delmar G. Slone, of Prestonsburg – one count of promoting contraband in the first-degree, one count of second-degree persistent felony offender.

Indictments are not a statement of guilt. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
