PRESTONSBURG – A prisoner who escaped custody Thursday afternoon is back in under police control after an anonymous tip aided in his capture.
According to Floyd County Sheriffs officials, Caleb Slone was apprehended in Dwale Friday morning after they received an anonymous tip that he was in the area.
Floyd County Sheriff’s Deputies were assisted in the apprehension by Kentucky State Police and Kentucky Motor Vehicle Enforcement.
According to Floyd County Sheriffs officials; 26-year-old Caleb Slone escaped custody while he was being walked back to jail. Slone is described as being 5”6 with light brown hair and slight of build. He was seen running through town wearing blue pants and a white shirt.
Slone’s orange jail shirt was reportedly found near Carter Funeral Home. Prestonsburg police officers and sheriffs deputies were searching the riverbank area around Town Branch at approximately 4:30 p.m.
Slone had been attending a hearing in Floyd Circuit Court on charges relating to eight counts of sexual abuse, two counts of sodomy, and one count of rape. All the charges dealt with a victim under 12 years of age.
Slone will now face an additional charge of first-degree escape, as well as a potential for more charges.
