PAINTSVILLE – An investigation is underway after a fatal collision occurred in Paintsville when a vehicle struck a pedestrian.
According to police reports the fatal collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian that occurred on KY321 in the Paintsville community of Johnson County. State police were contacted by Johnson County 911 on Friday, October 23, at 7:35 p.m., requesting assistance with the collision investigation.
The preliminary investigation indicates that Alexandra Hunter,19, of West Van Leer, was driving a 2002 Dodge Stratus north on KY321, when her vehicle struck Clarence Ward, 80, of Paintsville, while he was attempting to cross the roadway. Ward sustained fatal injuries, and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Johnson County Coroner, J.R. Frisby.
The ongoing investigation is being conducted by Post 09 Collision Reconstructionist Trooper Bryan Layne.
