One killed in motorcycle collision near Harold

HAROLD – An investigation is underway by Kentucky State Police following a fatal collision in Floyd County last Wednesday.

According to Kentucky State Police investigators, in the evening hours of Wednesday, October 28, Charles Salisbury, 24-years-old of Harold, was traveling south on KY Route 979 in the Harold community when the motorcycle he was operating crossed into the north bound lane and collided with an oncoming vehicle. The oncoming vehicle, a GMC pick-up truck was driven by Danny Hall of Harold.

Salisbury suffered fatal injuries in the collision, and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Floyd County Coroner Greg Nelson. Evidence at the scene indicates Salisbury was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision, and alcohol has not been ruled out as a possible contributing factor.

No injuries to Hall were reported.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Kentucky State Police. The collision is under investigation by Pikeville Post 9 Collision Reconstructionist Trooper John Dixon.
