FRANKFORT – Gov. Steve Beshear has appointed Jonathan P. Campbell, of Prestonsburg, to the State Board for the Certification of Librarians. Campbell is a librarian at the Floyd County Public Library.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve on the Board for the Certification of Librarians,” said Campbell. “As the role of librarian changes, we must be ready to adapt and meet the needs of the public. The certification board is challenged by the need to ensure that all librarians participate in quality professional learning in order to maintain certification. We must make sure that certification is meaningful so that librarians can be trusted to help people find the information they seek.”

He represents professional librarians in a public library and will serve a term expiring Aug. 14, 2019.

The State Board for the Certification of Librarians is composed of the Kentucky state librarian and five members appointed by the governor from a list submitted by the board of directors of the Kentucky Library Association.
