PRESTONSBRUG – Floyd County Schools Superintendent Dr. Henry Webb has announced that Prestonsburg Elementary School (PES) will be recognized in conjunction with GoNoodle for making school a healthier place. Prestonsburg Elementary has been identified by GoNoodle, a website designed for use in classrooms, as a top school in our sponsored state region.
The Kentucky Board of Education Health Subcommittee, in partnership with the Kentucky Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, have invited school leaders to be recognized for their efforts in making PES a healthier place. Prestonsburg Elementary is being highlighted for increasing physical activity opportunities for children through implementing comprehensive school physical activity programs. PES and three other schools will be recognized at the event on Sunday at Embassy Suites in Lexington.
Brent Rose, principal of Prestonsburg Elementary commented, “GoNoodle is one of the methods we use to increase student engagement in the classroom, while providing a well-rounded education for our students. Our students and teachers really enjoy using GoNoodle and we at PES would like to thank all of our community partners who help provide this to our school free of charge.”
Dr. Webb commented, “In addition to common core, we want our KIDS to know how to be healthy. Ensuring all KIDS have breakfast and lunch at no cost to our families, increasing awareness on healthy habits and increasing opportunities for activity in our schools are all part of our wellness initiative in Floyd County Schools. Prestonsburg Elementary excels at using GoNoodle, a web based program that helps get kids moving. From dancing to simply using movement to engage students and aid in learning, GoNoodle is a great resource for our KIDS.”
