PRESTONSBURG – A Betsy Layne man is in jail after a Floyd County Sheriff’s deputies arrest last Wednesday.
According to Floyd County Sheriffs officials, a drug trafficking investigation wrapped up last week when deputies apprehended James Stewart Jr., “Hopsine,” age 39, of Grandview.
Officials say that during the investigation, deputies were able to secure sufficient evidence to present to the Floyd County Grand Jury, which led to Stewart being charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.
The reports indicate that during the arrest and subsequent search of Stewart, deputies also recovered additional drugs. He was additionally charged with one count of illegal possession of a legend drug, and one count of third-degree of possession of a controlled substance.
Stewart also had an outstanding warrant for flagrant non-support.
Deputies advise that additional charges could be forthcoming.
Stewart was lodged in the Floyd County Detention Center.
