Three charged with theft in Honaker

HONAKER – Sheriff’s deputies caught thieves in the act of stealing from a mining company Monday night in Floyd county.

According to a report from the sheriffs offices, deputies responded to a complaint late Monday night of three individuals stealing from a mining company in the Honaker.

Deputies and mine security personnel reportedly caught the individuals in an elaborate attempt to steal hundreds of gallons of diesel fuel from Black Hawk Mining.. The three men involved were using electric pumps and 100 foot sections of hose to pump the fuel from company storage tanks to portable tanks located in the bed of a pick-up truck belonging to Patrick and Amanda Kidd of Harold.

Deputies also investigated a residential burglary complaint in the Honaker area where deputies allege the same three men burglarized a residence and stole guns and chainsaws from the home owner.

The three individuals deputies are:

• Patrick Kidd age 26, of Dana

• Sammy Hunter, age 31, of Printer

• Cory Kidd age 28, of Banner

Each man was charged with multiple theft, burglary and trespassing offenses. They were lodged in the Floyd County Jail. Deputies do say that additional suspects could be charged, and that additional charges may be forthcoming. All property was returned to the rightful owners.
