PRESTONSBURG – One man is in jail, and a woman seriously injured after police say the victim was shot in the leg with a shotgun.

According to police reports, Michael F. Hall, 36, of Prestonsburg, was arrested on Tuesday December 8, of this year after witnesses say he shot a woman, Leann Patrick on his front porch.

In the report, four witnesses state that the assault began with a verbal argument which escalated into a physical altercation and ended when Hall produced a single-barrel 20 gauge shotgun and shot Patrick in the leg.

When authorities arrived, Hall claimed that Patrick had menaced him with a knife, though none of the other witnesses could corroborate that story.

According to court documents, Hall was found guilt in 2009 of fourth-degree assault (domestic violence). As part of his guilty plea, he was sentenced to complete anger management.

Patrick was transported to Pikeville Medical Center.

Hall was arrested and transported to the Floyd County Detention Center without incident.
