Old Christmas gala returns to Samuel May house

PRESTONSBURG – Local historical societies will come together once again this year to with a look into the past as the doors open to an old time Christmas.

The Floyd County Historical Society, The Friends of Middle Creek, and the Friends of Samuel May House will host their annual joint Old Christmas Open House Sunday, January 10, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Samuel May House in Prestonsburg.

The Old Christmas tradition began decades ago by folklorist and long-time musician Edith Fitzpatrick-James. During the event music will be a center piece of celebration along with light refreshments and free guided tours of the May house.

The experience will also feature Mr. and Mrs. Samuel May returning from the 1840’s to serve as host as and hostess in their home.
