MAYTOWN – A Floyd County man was killed Wednesday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle along Route 80 near Turkey Creek.

The accident occurred roughly 300 feet from the intersection of KY Rt. 777 and Rt. 80. The preliminary investigation conducted by the Kentucky State Police revealed that Beverly Meade was driving a 2002 Dodge Stratus west on KY 80, when her vehicle struck Ricky Little, 41, of Weeksbury.

According to deputy coroner Chuck Hall, Little was riding in a car with his parents when he exited the vehicle.

“He was in a vehicle with his parents and jumped out,” said Hall. “The parents are traumatized pretty great.”

Hall says that the cause of death has been listed as blunt force trauma, pedestrian versus motor vehicle. Several Floyd County agencies responded to the accident including Maytown Fire Department, Floyd County Sheriff’s Department, Trans-Star Ambulance and Kentucky State Police.

The accident remains under investigation by Trooper Ryan Layne of the Kentucky State Police.
