PRESTONSBURG – A Floyd county school bus sank into a ditch Monday afternoon after the road gave away in the Cliff community of Prestonsburg.
Dr. Henry Webb said Tuesday that the accident was very minor and that no one injured.
“Tire got off the side of the road, and it was soft,” said Webb. “There were no reported injuries and we had another bus come and take the kids home that weren’t picked up by their parents.”
Webb says that given the condition of many of the secondary and tertiary roads that buses travel on every day in Floyd county, he could not say more about the job the counties bus drivers do.
“Our bus drivers do an exceptional job driving on our small narrow roads,” said Webb. “We have exceptional bus drivers who do an amazing jobs. They do phenomenal.”
Webb said that the board always stresses safety first with the school transportation.
According to Webb, the bus was not damaged at all in the accident, and was back into service on Tuesday.
