Two fatalities discovered after Pike County fire

ELKHORN CITY – An investigation is underway after a fatal house fire occurred in Pike County earlier this week.

According to Kentucky State Police, troopers were called at approximately 11:52 p.m. on Monday, January 25, 2016, in reference to a possible fatal house fire on Regina Belcher Highway in Elkhorn City.

As emergency personnel sifted through the ruble of the burned house, the bodies of two people were located in the residence. The home reportedly belonged to an elderly couple, Ross and Dixie Damron.

Both victims have been sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for autopsy and identification. The exact cause of the fire and the resulting fatalities are under investigation.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by KSP Arson Investigator Nick Endicott and Post 9 Detective Chris Phillips.
