PIKEVILLE – A suspect in the recent armed robbery of a Pikeville pharmacy was apprehended earlier this week in Floyd County.

Kentucky State Police are saying that they have a suspect in custody after the armed robbery of the Commonwealth Pharmacy in Pikeville early Tuesday morning.

According to KSP reports, Trooper Jeffrey Stumbo located Christopher Daniels, 33 of Pikeville, emerging from a wooded area onto the Left Fork of Toler Creek in Floyd County. Trooper Stumbo made contact with Daniels after noticing he matched the description of the subject wanted for the armed robbery of Commonwealth Pharmacy.

A cursory investigation by KSP determined that Daniels was the perpetrator involved in the pharmacy robbery. Daniels was placed under arrest and charged with first-degree armed robbery.

In the early morning hours on Tuesday, February 2, KSP Post 9 troopers responded to a 911 call of an armed robbery at Commonwealth Pharmacy. Once on scene troopers made the determination that a male subject entered the pharmacy and brandished a firearm demanding prescription medication.

The subject in that robbery fled the scene on foot.

Several troopers, officers, and deputies, as well as two canine units were deployed from KSP and Pikeville Police Department. After an extensive search of the area, officers were unable to locate the male.

This incident remains under investigation by KSP Detective Chris Phillips. Daniels was lodged in the Pike County Detention Center.
