PRESTONSBURG – Finally, area residents were greeted with a a beautiful sunny day to enjoy time in local parks. Just a couple of weeks after citizens were digging themselves out of more than a foot of snow, families took advantage of the beautiful warm weather over the weekend. Jennifer Conn and her daughter, Jazmine Conn, a fourth-grader at John M. Stumbo Elementary, and friend Andy Saddler, enjoyed the swings at Archer Park.
“We have been snowed in for so long,” said Conn. “I love spending time with my girl and coming to Archer Park is a nice place to relax and spend time together.”
Children were enjoying the swings, slides, and spending time together outdoors. The City of Prestonsburg works hard to ensure Archer Park is kept clean and accessible to the citizens of Floyd County.
“We went to Jenny Wiley, but the park area was closed. Archer Park is a nice park and is always clean. It is rarely crowded, so we can enjoy a peaceful day, while the children play,” said Tammy Sparks, of Banner.
The next warm sunny day, if you’re looking for a place to bring the kids to enjoy the outdoors, Archer Park is a place to consider. Archer Park includes 32 acres, featiring newly-renovated tennis courts, swimming pools, ball fields, a roller skating rink, kiddie park, lighted outdoor basketball court, indoor basketball court and a picnic shelter.
