PRESTONSBURG – Health is something many of us take for granted. As we grow older, life obligations are sometimes our excuse to put exercise and our health on the backburner. Local resident Jerry Baker is an inspiration to many of us as he takes physical fitness and his health serious.
Jerry Baker celebrated his 50th birthday with friends on a run down Route 23 on Saturday. Baker is a fitness inspiration tackling obstacle and running events locally and abroad. His moto to everyone is “Get Out and Live.”
Those joining Baker on his run were Jason Castle, Joel Thornbury, Brian Conn, Taryn Harris Howell, Jerry Baker, Amy Blanton Pelfrey, Chynna Breann Hibbitts, Kindra Horne Baker and Leigh Ann Daniels.
“Just go outside, go somewhere, run, bike, walk, camp, horseback ride, fish, hunt listen and play music become involved and volunteer,” said Baker, as he explained his basic views on life. “Get the kids away from video games and get them outside. Don’t die when you are 20 something and wait to be buried when you are 70. Get out and live!”
