PRESTONSBURG – The City of Prestonsburg is now the proud owner of two new police cruisers. In December 2015, the Prestonsurg City Council voted unanimously to purchase two 2016 Chevrolet Caprices from Pop’s Chevrolet, a local dealership.
According to Prestonsburg City Police Chief Larry Woods, the two new patrol cars are in the process of being painted before they are delivered to the department and outfitted with police force electronics and blue lights.
The cruisers are the first new patrol cars purchased by the city in the past 16 years.
“The city is in real need of these patrol cars,” said Woods. “If we had a breakdown right now, we would be short on patrol cars. The two new additions will make us a total of 17 cruisers in our fleet.”
The city hopes to have the new patrol cars on the road in the next couple weeks.
