PRESTONSBURG – Students who make up the Student Government Association (SGA) at Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC) have been heavily involved with local projects to help give back to their community.

Recently, they participated in the Jenny Wiley State Park Clean Sweep and assisted with the City of Prestonsburg Easter Egg Hunt. Students have also dedicated their time to volunteering for parking events on the BSCTC Pikeville campus to help raise money for student activities and a future SGA Scholarship.

SGA represents the student body at BSCTC and encourages student engagement in activities on and off campus.

Leslie Bays and Gail Cooley serve as the faculty and staff advisors, respectively. They oversee the activities and strive to promote leadership skills while focusing on student success.

SGA officers include: Jerica Grim, president; Olivia Colvin, vice president; Aaron Curnutte, treasurer; Kaitlyn Campbell, secretary; Alison Porter, freshman representative; and Austin Curnutte and Jordan Carroll, sophomore representatives.
