PRESTONSBURG – Earlier in the month, Highlands Regional Medical Center honored employees for their contributions to providing outstanding care in patient access areas.

Patient Access Week acknowledges the unique contribution patient access associates have on the patient experience. Patient Access associates are usually the first person patients and visitors encounter in a health care organization. These dedicated staff members fill the roles of receptionists, registration, insurance verification, financial counseling, and scheduling in the health care organization.

Patient Access Week is sponsored by the National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM). NAHAM promotes best practices, standards, and subject matter expertise to influence and promote high quality delivery of Patient Access Services. NAHAM accomplishes its mission through networking, education and certification opportunities.

In keeping pace with the rapid changes in health care, the roles and responsibilities of patient access associates in health care organizations has grown. Since its inception in 1982, Patient Access Week acknowledges the expanding role of this group of dedicated professionals.

“On behalf on of Highlands, I would like to thank and congratulate Patient Access Team for their contributions to the health of the community that we serve,” said Highlands Regional Medical Center Patient Access Director Bonnie Neville said.
