PRESTONSBURG – Carl D. Perkins Job Corps Center held its spring graduation ceremony on Friday, April 8. In all, 30 students walked across the stage to receive their diploma and certificates during the ceremony. Many parents and family members travelled from Florida, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia to share this special day with the graduates. Regina Triplett Jones, U.S. Senator Rand Paul’s Eastern Kentucky Field Representative, and Mitchell Pearson, Prestonsburg Tourism Director, served as the guest speakers. Both guest speakers gave inspiring speeches to the graduates, reminding them to keep following their dreams that they have worked hard for and continue on with their education. Triplett also commented student Jimmy Malians’ rendition of the National Anthem was so moving that it brought tears to her eyes. The day was a heartfelt one, with so many successes shared with family and friends. For the students to achieve their goals and for families to be able to share it with them is what Job Corps is about and the mission to educate and train young people.
