PRESTONSBURG – The Floyd County Health Department sponsors the TOP Club (Teen Outreach Program), a group which continues to make a positive impact in local communities. The TOP Club decided to make spring baskets as part of its community service learning projects. The teens in the club choose, plan and do at least 20 hours of community service projects each school year.

Service projects allow students the opportunity to get involved and make a difference. The Prestonsburg High School TOP club chose to make baskets for the Prestonsburg Senior Citizens Center. The Allen Central High School TOP club chose to make baskets for the Martin Senior Citizens Center.

Prestonsburg Senior Citizens Director Al Gunter said, “It is very nice for these young people to do something to bring a smile to the face of a senior citizen who may be living alone or just simply needed a nice pick me up.”

“These two clubs are such an amazing group of teens and we are very proud of all they have accomplished this school year,” said a Floyd County Health Department official.
