Staff Report

PIPPA PASSES – Alice Lloyd College (ALC) has announced Amberlee Markwell (Grassy Creek) and Samuel Kilburn (Prestonsburg) as the recipients of the Earl and Eleanor Holbrook Endowed Scholarship.

The award was presented to both students during the Alice Lloyd College Honors Day Convocation, which was held on April 19. At the request of the Holbrook family, the two scholarships were presented by Teresa Grender, Director of Alumni Relations at Alice Lloyd College.

The Earl and Eleanor Holbrook Scholarship was established in 2011 to honor Mr. and Mrs. Holbrook and their many years of dedicated service as educators in Morgan County. The scholarship assists recipients with out-of-pocket expenses such as textbooks and fees. This is the second consecutive year in which Markwell has received this scholarship and Kilburn’s first year, as he will begin his senior year at ALC in the fall. The Holbrook family extends congratulations to Markwell and Kilburn on receiving this year’s scholarship and wishes them well in their educational pursuits. For more information about the Earl and Eleanor Holbrook Endowed Scholarship, which is awarded annually, contact the Morgan County High School Guidance Department or Alice Lloyd College.
