UPIKE to host Esports and Vision Science Academy

PIKEVILLE – The University of Pikeville will be hosting the second Esports and Vision Science Academy. The camp will give middle school and high school students the opportunity to learn more about the science of vision.

During the course of the three-day camp, students will listen to presentations from various University of Pikeville biology students and representatives from the Kentucky College of Optometry. These presentations will cover the physics of optics, the anatomy of the eye and the genetics behind eye color. Participants will also explore the science behind virtual reality with a hands-on look into the making of a virtual reality application.

Applications are due by June 1, 2016. Space is limited, preference will be given to entering juniors and seniors. If accepted, individuals will be notified by Friday, June 10.

The Esports and Vision Science Academy is sponsored by The Holler, University of Pikeville-Kentucky College of Optometry and UPIKE Esports.
