Sheriff seeks help identifying robbery suspects

Police need help identifying individuals who robbed a BP station on two separate occasions during the month of May.


PRESTONSBURG – The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office is asking area residents for their help in identifying and locating individuals who robbed a BP gas station twice during the month of May. Police say two men entered the BP station located at the intersection of Route 3 and Route 321 on two separate occasions and proceeded to take between $700 and $800.

The first incident occurred on May 15 when a masked man entered the building with a firearm. Police say the assailant went around the counter and proceeded to take money from the cash register.

The second incident occurred on May 24 with a man entering the BP station and breaking into a machine and taking money.

No one was injured during both robberies, according to manager Danny Hampton. Anyone with any information is asked to call the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office at (606) 886-6171.
